Super Mario Galaxy

Forget Rachel and Ross—Mario and the Princess are the great will-they-or-won't-they fictional couple. Every time they're about to be happy together, the Princess is spirited off by another evil-doer. Unlike other Mario games, where the Princess is already a captive when the game action begins, Super Mario Galaxy opens with the kidnapping: The Princess, Mario, and their mushroom pals are partying at a festival when Bowser and his minions invade, bombing and setting the Mushroom Kingdom afire. It's a fairly frightening sequence that could lead to nightmares for little kids. Once that's over, however, the scares are few and far between. Players must help Mario eventually rescue the princess by visiting new worlds and collecting stars. Each world has its own games: Chasing down cuddly bunnies, collecting coins, and other challenges. It's not for the queasy: I got a little dizzy trying to maneuver Mario around the small worlds, where he's often walking upside-down. If you're playing solo, it can become a little dull after a while. The real appeal of Super Mario Galaxy is as a party game for a group of kids hanging out together, or for a family game night.

Fear Factor: (The intro is a bit frightening, with a happy gathering interrupted by an invading force.)
Heart: (Mario just seems to be going through the motions at this point.)
