You’ve seen game show contestants answer inane trivia questions under pressure. And you’ve seen roller coasters. But have you ever seen game show contestants answer inane trivia questions while on a roller coaster? Cartoon Network thought not. Thus, BrainRush. Unsuspecting teens simply expecting a thrill ride find themselves seated next to the host. Soon, they’re going upward of 80 miles per hour and shouting out the names of the Transformers and failing to identify the second president. The kids I watched with were perfectly happy with the (lame) trivia questions and loved the idea of one kid making an extra Benjamin for speed-eating a cheeseburger right before a ride. Clearly, they saw themselves as future contestants. But to get them to watch again, BrainRush will need to speed things up a bit (one kid managed to answer only one question, but then, it’s 75-second ride) and establish a few more rules. But the host is appealing and the concept clever. With a little more work, the world might just be ready for (another) teen game show.
