Barbara Walters Is Fascinated by Women Married to Jerks

How does Barbara Walters define "fascinating"? Apparently 20 percent of what makes a woman compelling is having been cheated on. There is no other explanation for why Kate Gosselin and Jenny Sanford are on Walters' list of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009. Sure, include one of the tabloid queens, but both of them? I could even understand including Gosselin—America really was obsessed with the fate of her marriage and her eight children. But Sanford? As far as I can see, the most fascinating thing about her was something she did not do: Show up and stand next to her husband as he yammered on about hiking the Appalachian Trail. Being publicly cheated on does not automatically make you an interesting person, much less interesting enough to appear on one of these silly lists.
When Sarah Palin is far and away the most accomplished woman on your list of 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009, you've got problems.

If you had looked carefully, you would have noticed that this post was written on the day before the show aired, so I was responding to the promotion of the show--linked to in the post--which did not include Michelle Obama. There was no way to watch any part of the show because it had not aired yet.
Really??

What a lame and inaccurate post. Did you even watch the entire show or just youtube those two interviews? If I recall correctly, the best moments of the show were the OTHER three women interviewed: Michelle Obama (obviously a woman NOT married to a jerk); Sarah Palin (who, despite the obvious disdain you have for her which I assume is due to her conservative views, is more accomplished than 99.9% of the women in this world could ever hope to be...and who by all accounts is married to a man who supports her career, is a huge part of her success, a strong presence in their family life, and NOT a jerk); and, my personal favorite, Lady Gaga (who is not married but obviously is doing just fine on her own, and creates music that lets girls know that you have to take control of your relationships and not feel like you have to be with someone who doesn't appreciate your fabulousness). And do keep in mind that the two women who WERE married to jerks were smart enough to wise up and get out of those situations. Having been married to one myself for too long, I was able to clearly see the message that they were sending and that the Barbara Walter's show highlighted, and I hope other women who tuned in were more insightful than the poster of this "article."
